Ryan Park is an award-winning Landscape Master Plan designed as a new Town park. There was an intensive, year long public meeting process to mediate between several different interest groups. The Plan includes a picnic area, boat ramp, pedestrian bridge, ballfields, basketball courts, and a children’s play area. The second phase included the design and construction of all these elements.The 350 acre site for Ryan Park consisted of an old landfill, Belleview Pond, with 69 acres of environmentally damaged land, stripped of all vegetation and soil. Active recreational elements, such as a hiking trail system, were integrated while rehabilitating damaged land and protecting important wildlife habitat. Extensive regrading and the use of municipal sludge compost for soil enhancement reduced erosion and allowed revegetation.
